Regrettably, I missed the Junk 2 Funk Fashion show in 2012 at the Savannah Arts Academy, but I’m planning to go to this year’s event, which is scheduled for three performances on Feb. 1 and 2.
Is it just a big pop joke? Is the goal to make a quick fortune in crazy, campy holiday gifts for folks with plenty of money to burn? I’ve read several articles about the new line, which is based on semi-erotic drawings Ono did for husband John Lennon decades ago, and I still really don’t have a clue.
Back in the summer, Express spent several days here doing a fashion show and shooting still images for its holiday line. Now we have some of the video from those various shoots and productions.

I sure would have loved to have been a fly on the way as Andre Leon Talley and Maureen Dowd toured the exhibit “Little Black Dress” at the SCAD Museum of Art.
I took a lot of photos on Fashion’s Night Out on Broughton Street on Thursday, but I was there more to enjoy the event than to document it.

The female models include Ataui Deng, Alina Baikova, Brittany Burke, Daniela DeJesus, Frida Gustavsson, Ginta Lapina, Lais Ribeiro, Milou Sluis, Nadine Ponce, and Romee Strijd. The male models include Clint Mauro, David Agbodji, Garrett Neff, Lucho Jacob, Ryan Kennedy, and Vlad Ivanov.
Express will be shooting its latest advertising campaign centered on a live, high end Runway Show near Monterey Square this Friday. The event is free and open to the public.
The SEAM (Savannah Emerging Artists Movement) fashion show took over Savannah’s beautiful Brockington Hall for a few hours last night.
Re: Magazine, launched a few months ago by SCAD students, has just published its second issue. The magazine is heavy on fashion stories but also includes profiles, reviews, and all sorts of other pieces.
The Savannah College of Art and Design has appeared in national rankings of top fashion schools. Savannah also has to have as many photographers per capita — some SCAD affiliated, many not — as any small city in America. Plus…
