Not from The Onion: Former Savannah State football coach running for President, considers himself “a long shot at best”

Did April 1st move to November 21st?

Check out this piece from the Savannah Morning News: Robby Wells settles SSU lawsuit, says he’s running for president. Wells, who is white, alleged that he was fired from the historically black university for racial reasons. The SMN piece includes this choice quote:

“I understand we are at this point considered a long shot at best,” said the 43-year old Charlotte, N.C., resident.

WJCL’s coverage is here. WSOC TV in Charlotte has a piece here. (Wells is a Charlotte resident.)

USA Today’s coverage is a bit more understated. From the closing of Wells claims victory in racial lawsuit:

Wells, meanwhile, said he continues to search for a job. It is one of the reasons he will hold a rally at Washington Square in Savannah on Monday at 1:30 p.m. declaring himself a candidate for president of the United States.
