My family had a border collie mix for many years — Oedipus (or Oeddie, a spelling that confused the vets’ office staff sometimes) — who was always trying to round everyone together. We chose that name because of his foot that was badly damaged by the steel trap that we rescued him from in the woods less than a hundred yards from our house.
