Johnny Mercer would have been 104 today — he was born in Savannah on Nov. 18, 1909. He died way, way, way too early — in 1976.
Given all of his other achievements — the great songs, the business acumen, the Oscars — it’s easy to forget that Mercer was also a really fine singer.
