I first wrote about Chipotle planning to open a store in Savannah in a City Talk column in May: Savannah increasingly a target for national chains.
But considering the excitement on Facebook today about the sign going up for Chipotle on Victory Drive just west of Whole Foods (opening on August 13th), I can only conclude that most people don’t read the fine print in my columns . . .
Chipotle and Zöes Kitchen are both going into a new building that’s part of the new Victory Station, which replaced Backus Cadillac.
I had exchanged tweets with ChipotleTweets a couple of weeks ago, when the company was still hoping for a late August opening.
Now, according to Chipotle’s social media team, they’re still shooting for around the first of September: Updated, 8/20: Chipotle is looking to a mid-September opening:
@billdawers We're hoping for mid September ish, if everything goes according to plan, but that could change. – Joe

Talk about a revolution in information readily available via social media: now individual consumers can contact large corporations directly and have at least a chance of a substantive and almost immediate reply.
For more on Chipotle, you might want to start with the Food with Integrity section of the company’s website.
