Wet Socks at The Thru-Project fundraiser at The Sparetime (photos)

On Saturday night, I made a relatively brief stop at The Sparetime for an art exhibit and music lineup in support of The Thru-Project, which is raising funds for a narrative photo book of a hike along the entire Appalachian Trail.

The project spearheaded by photographer Josh Niven is raising money via an Indiegogo campaign.

I caught just one of the bands on Saturday on The Sparetime’s second floor. Wet Socks — with a tight garage rock sound — was founded by Hunter Jayne, best known around town as the lead guitarist for Triathalon. Hunter has had a few other musicians backing him, but Wet Socks played as just a duo last night, with John Zimmerman on drums.

Wet Socks is among the three bands playing for the closing night of The Sketchbook Show!!!

I like this EP from last fall, but the sound seemed a good bit sharper now:
