Armstrong tennis teams enter NCAA DII tournament ranked #1 and #3

UPDATE: Both men’s and women’s teams became national champs!!!

We finished up a great semester at Armstrong Atlantic State University last week, but some students have found their commitments continuing — and that’s a good thing.

Armstrong’s tennis teams — both the men and the women — play on Wednesday in the round of 16 in the NCAA Division II tournament in Louisville. I don’t want to jinx them, but both teams have legitimate shots at national titles. The men enter the tournament ranked #1, while the women are ranked #3.

Golfer Jenna Birch is also in Louisville for the NCAA finals this week. The men’s golf team ended the season tied for 12th in the South/Southeast regional. The softball team made it deep into the regionals. The baseball team won the Peach Belt Conference tournament and enters NCAA regional play on Thursday.

I try to go to a few of the tennis matches every year, and I already posted some pics of an early season match. I also attended the regional finals a few weeks ago and posted over 100 pics on Facebook already. I’ve winnowed those pics down to the better ones for this post.

In the action here, the women defeated Flagler 5-0 and the men defeated Georgia State 5-0.
