Update: Check out the trippy video for “Traces to Nowhere”:
Original post: I try to preview a lot of the acts that play the Savannah Stopover, but I miss some. Some get added late to the schedule. And some are much better live than I expected, while others disappoint.
The Montreal band Each Other (the members are all from Halifax) was one of those acts that wasn’t on my radar screen at all before they took the stage opening for Oberhofer at The Jinx on the opening night of the just-concluded Stopover.
But I’m sure glad I paid attention.
Each Other’s 2-song EP, just released on March 1st and embedded, can be purchased for $1 (or more) on Each Other’s Bandcamp page. You can listen to them below.
Each Other can be followed on Tumblr and Facebook.
The band is made up of Brad Loughead, Mike Wright, and Christian Simmons — all from Halifax — who have crafted a melodic pop sound that sounded as clean and energetic live as in the studio. Each Other played the Star Bar in Atlanta after leaving Savannah, and this week they’re scheduled for 5 shows at SXSW:
3/13 – Austin, TX @ Mercer’s Party (6pm)
3/13 – Austin, TX @ Spill (10pm)
3/17 – Austin, TX @ PureVolume (5:45pm)
3/17 – Austin, TX @ Spill (12am)
3/18 – Austin, TX @ Panache Party
The blog Talk Rock To Me likes Each Other, and so does Stereogum.
One of the joys of the Savannah Stopover is the chance to hear bands like Each Other — talented musicians who might be on their way to something much bigger.
