I don’t plan on getting myself in shape to run Savannah’s first Rock ‘n’ Marathon on November 5th, but I’m going to try to get to the Course Announcement Party on Tuesday evening. It’s actually a block party at Fleet Feet on Waters Avenue near 50th Street from 6 to 8 p.m. The big news will obviously be the unveiling of the course, but there will also be refreshments, a raffle, a Q&A, information about sponsors and charities, and a chance to register for the race.
There’s lots more info about the announcement party here and on Fleet Feet’s website here. Fleet Feet will be running specials all day.
The Savannah Stopover is also involved — they’ve gotten one of my favorite local bands General Oglethorpe and the Panhandlers to perform at the party. General O just recently picked up a new bassist and keyboardist (more on those members in an upcoming post) and continue to promote their album Whistle the Dirges, which I reviewed here.
More information about the event can be found on the Rock n Roll Marathon website.
