Gallup defends (?) its erratic presidential polling results; Paul Ryan says results were “a shock” on election night

Really? Even on election night, with North Carolina too close to call deep into the night, with Obama performing well in Virginia and Florida, with states like Iowa and Colorado showing good returns for Obama — even with all that going on, Ryan thought they were in a position to win until Ohio was called?

Heyrocco at The Sparetime — photos

Savannah live music fans are certain to have more chances to catch the Charleston-based trio Heyrocco. And that’s really good news — at least for anyone who likes smart, energetic indie rock with beautiful vocals, a relentless beat, and a nod or two to New Wave sounds.

Re: Magazine is a pretty slick product that has now published three editions. It’s produced by college students in Savannah.

mumbledust: folk noir from Savannah

mumbledust is a duo of Rachael Perisho and Ryan McCardle. Perisho has a clear, almost languid voice that’s especially interesting when she’s playing the saw. On banjo and guitar, McCardle’s voice is firm, beautiful, and oddly quiet — at least in Friday’s unplugged performance in the store.

Nate Silver ranks the pollsters — in a bad, bad year for Gallup

Halloween at The Jinx — photos

It was a busy night around town — including Hyde Park on Hudson at the Savannah Film Festival (my review) followed by a fun party at Belford’s. After a late slice at Vinnie’s, we headed back to The Jinx for just a tiny sliver of the full lineup of acts.
