The Casket Girls release video for “Heartless” — new EP coming on Record Store Day

A few days ago, Spin premiered The Casket Girls new video “Heartless” from the band’s widely praised album Sleepwalking. From Spin:

The last time we saw the Casket Girls, they were bathed in darkness. That was November and the Georgia trio had just released their Sleepwalking full-length, a haunting debut of Ryan Graveface-penned compositions met with vocals by relative newcomers Elsa and Phaedra Greene. Months later, they’re back with a relatively sunny, cable access-ready clip for “Heartless,” a bewitching cut from said LP that’d either make Ariel Pink really proud or really grouchy.

The Casket Girls were discovered/created by Ryan Graveface of Graveface Records, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and other projects. The story goes that Ryan found sisters Elsa and Phaedra Greene playing autoharp and singing strange songs in one of Savannah’s square — and a band was born.

Here’s that new video for “Heartless”:

The Casket Girls’ new self-titled EP will be released on Record Store Day, April 20th. I got a chance to preview the 5-song “mini-LP” and I’d tentatively say that the sound is more lush and layered than Sleepwalking. I especially loved the disturbing lightness of “Bloodstone”, the fourth track on the EP.

The Casket Girls will also be performing at Graveface Records & Curiosities on 4/26. More details on that soon.
