William Schaff embroiders arresting image for The Casket Girls’ upcoming release

The pics I posted yesterday of The Casket Girls (see Savannah’s The Casket Girls get rave review in Washington Post for debut album “Sleepwalking”) were from an October book signing by artist William Schaff, who posts some of his amazing creations to his flickr stream.

And here’s the latest (the magic of embedding!), which you can view on flickr simply by clicking on it:

Artwork for an upcoming Casket Girls release

That’s 8″ x 10″ and hand embroidered on silk.

Pretty awesome. The use of the medium sure conjures images of mourning samplers from the Victorian era and before.
