Savannah Music Festival 2013 lineup announced (digital brochure embedded)

The Savannah Music Festival from March 21 to April 6, 2013, will once again feature an array of world-class talent.

I know it gets trite saying things like that year after year, but it’s true.

The SMF’s slick new website is up this morning, and it’s easy to browse among the myriad options.

Among the highlights (in my opinion):

  • Charles Bradley on 3/21
  • Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company on 3/23
  • Masters of Bluegrass with J.D. Crowe, Bobby Hicks, Bobby Osborne, Del McCoury, and Jerry McCoury
  • Fado and the Soul of Southern Europe
  • Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and Richard Thompson at Johnny Mercer Theatre
  • The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with Marcus Roberts

Here’s the digital brochure, which can obviously be viewed large format:

There’s also a predictably strong lineup of classical acts, featuring the SMF’s Daniel Hope and top names like David Finckel and Wu Han, but it’s worth noting that the chamber music has moved from the Telfair Academy to its neighbor Trinity United Methodist Church. The capacity is larger at Trinity and the sound is great, but I gather the move was related to the Telfair’s decision to up rents for some groups using the rotunda.

Of course, the shows that are highlights to me might not be the highlights to others, so take a look at the schedule.

A few pop and rock acts might be added — my guess is yes — sometime closer to the festival. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Nov. 14 15 (sorry!).
