One of my personal highlights of the 2011 SMF was the second half of “African Interplay” at the Lucas Theatre, which featured kora master Ballake Sissoko from Mali and French cellist Vincent Segal.

The music was enhanced by our incredible view of the stage from the front row of the Lucas balcony and by the sheer beauty of the movements and contrasting attire of the performers.
But the music more than stands on its own.
Today, the Sissoko-Segal set, plus commentary from Rob Gibson, was added to the Savannah Music Festival LIVE archive at PRX.
