NYC’s Gallim Dance brings “Blush” to Atlanta on Jan. 28

I haven’t seen Gallim Dance’s Blush, but I was fortunate to see I Can See Myself in Your Pupil at Spoleto in 2010.

That was a stirring performance that left me literally breathless at times, and I’ve tried to keep up with the work of Gallim Dance and founder/choreographer Andrea Miller since that show.

I doubt I’ll be making the trip up I-16 all the way from Savannah, but Atlanta area readers might be interested that Gallim will be performing the much-praised piece Blush on January 28th at the Rialto Center as part of the new weeklong festival Off the Edge. It looks like a great lineup. Note that Zoe|Juniper is also performing — I already have tickets to see that company’s A Crack in Everything at Spoleto this coming June.

If Gallim Dance and Zoe|Juniper are any indication of the quality of Off the Edge as a whole, then it’s certainly a festival worth checking out.

With the proviso that much is lost in videos of live dance performances, here’s the trailer for Blush:
