Georgia Public Broadcasting’s WSVH moves to Armstrong

Classes begin at Armstrong Atlantic State University in about two weeks, and the campus will be busy in the interim as professors and students prepare.

And we’ll all find a new neighbor. Georgia Public Broadcasting’s WSVH (89.1 FM) has moved from Skidaway Island to the Armstrong Center plaza — originally a shopping strip anchored by Publix.

I haven’t seen a press release yet or any other official notice of the move, but Savannah area GPB listeners are now hearing mention of the new location every time the station identifies itself.

Those station identifications represent great press for Armstrong. Easier access of local GPB journalists to the campus and to Savannah’s Southside generally might be good news for those areas. For students hoping for internships in broadcasting, the proximity of WSVH is obviously good news too.
