I’m not sure how I missed the release of this video a couple of weeks ago, but I’m sure some of you will be interested.

Back in the summer, Express spent several days here doing a fashion show and shooting still images for its holiday line. Now we have some of the video from those various shoots and productions.

The greens are a little intense and the music is pretty cloying, but some of the images of the city — and of the models — are quite striking.

Here’s the vid, which you might want to take bigger:

And here are some photos I took on the day of the fashion show. According to my own post from July, the models here include Ataui Deng, Alina Baikova, Brittany Burke, Daniela DeJesus, Frida Gustavsson, Ginta Lapina, Lais Ribeiro, Milou Sluis, Nadine Ponce, and Romee Strijd. The male models include Clint Mauro, David Agbodji, Garrett Neff, Lucho Jacob, Ryan Kennedy, and Vlad Ivanov.

I already posted photos of the extensive runway setup on Gordon Street in Monterey Square for last night’s Express fashion show.

Here’s some background from the Savannah Morning News on what Express hopes to accomplish:

With a massive retail following and stores all over the world, Express had plenty of options when it came to promoting its 2012 holiday line, but one stood out above the rest.

“We chose Savannah for a reason,” [Express PR manager Jennifer] Bayley said. “Our holiday collection has a nod to that genteel, sort of old glamour feeling — an iconic feeling.”

For the Express team, those are the exact qualities Savannah embodies.

“That’s why our creative group chose Savannah over every other city in the country.”

And, given the brand’s global reach, the Hostess City certainly will be in the spotlight — though it may look more like a floodlight.

“These images (from the runway show) will be in over 600 stores — the Middle East, Canada,” Bayley said, and “delivered to over 12 million people through our catalog and direct mailings.”

The crowd was not as big as I expected, but as you can see, the space was plenty full. It was a very warm but not really hot evening. The show seemed to go off without a hitch.

My gallery here starts with some shots I took a couple of hours before the fashion show. Within seconds of the show’s end, crews were already dismantling the stage.

The female models include Ataui Deng, Alina Baikova, Brittany Burke, Daniela DeJesus, Frida Gustavsson, Ginta Lapina, Lais Ribeiro, Milou Sluis, Nadine Ponce, and Romee Strijd.

The male models include Clint Mauro, David Agbodji, Garrett Neff, Lucho Jacob, Ryan Kennedy, and Vlad Ivanov.

If anyone has any corrections or additions to that list, please let me know in the comments. Thanks in advance.

From the Savannah Film Office Facebook page:

Express will be shooting its latest advertising campaign centered on a live, high end Runway Show near Monterey Square this Friday. The event is free and open to the public and the more people that show up the better Savannah will look! This campaign will showcase Savannah through national commercials and catalogue distribution into 12 million US homes. Where: Monterey Square (Bull and Gordon) / When: Friday, July 13th from 6:30-7pm / Why: See a high end runway show with top models, support your community and enjoy free refreshments and giveaways!

From Jason Kendall’s great piece at the Savannah Morning News:

They’re inviting the public to crash this party, called Rock the Sidewalk.

“What’s so great about it is that fashion shows from big brands are usually closed door,” explains Jennifer Bayley, Express’ senior manager of public relations. “You have to be an editor or Olsen twin to get in.”

The Savannah show, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will be different. Though it will feature a bevy of international talent and the debut of Express’ men’s and women’s holiday line, Savannahians will be invited to crowd the stage as the models strut their looks. Similar events in Las Vegas, Miami, Times Square and Chicago have drawn public turnout in the thousands.

Click here to go directly to a slideshow of 16 models — both women and men — who are slated to be part of the show.

I didn’t know anything about this event until seeing a Facebook post early this morning, and I certainly had no idea that the crews would be out there today (Tuesday!) prepping for an event on Friday.

This thing is going to be big, but there won’t be room for the thousands that allegedly attended similar events in other cities. The runway will be along Gordon Street near the Mercer-Williams House and in front of Alex Raskin’s antique store.

Here’s what the setup looked like while crews worked on it today:
