{"id":6116,"date":"2013-08-30T14:38:15","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T18:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/?p=6116"},"modified":"2013-08-30T14:38:15","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T18:38:15","slug":"what-big-names-will-be-coming-to-savannah-for-spongebob-live-action-sequences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/2013\/08\/30\/what-big-names-will-be-coming-to-savannah-for-spongebob-live-action-sequences\/","title":{"rendered":"What big names will be coming to Savannah for &#8220;SpongeBob&#8221; live action sequences?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><div class=\"e26b170012445c56d240655bdd03f7bf\" data-index=\"10\" style=\"float: right; margin:10px 0 10px 10px;\">\n<script async src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:inline-block;width:300px;height:600px\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-5595881567027133\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"8268618372\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<br \/>\nWhen I say that I wouldn&#8217;t recognize SpongeBob SquarePants if I passed him on the sidewalk, I&#8217;m only half-joking.<\/p>\n<p>I assume I&#8217;d know the animated character by his, well, spongy form and square pants?<\/p>\n<p>In other words, I&#8217;m out of the SpongeBob loop, so I wasn&#8217;t overly excited by the announcement that the movie <em>SpongeBob SquarePants 2<\/em> would film live action sequences in and around Savannah beginning in September.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, I&#8217;m thrilled that the local economy and the filmmaking industry will get a big boost, but for some of us this project is simply not as exciting as other major films shot in Savannah &#8212; unless, of course, some major talent is attached to the project.<\/p>\n<p>2004&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0345950\/\" target=\"_blank\">The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie<\/a><\/em> included live actor David Hasselhoff (yes, really).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2279373\/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm\" target=\"_blank\">IMDB listing for <em>SpongeBob SquarePants 2<\/em><\/a> so far has no live actors listed &#8212; just voices &#8212; but we&#8217;re beginning to hear some interesting rumors around town.<\/p>\n<p>And at least one of those rumors seems at least vaguely plausible.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0593610\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Mitchell<\/a> will be directing the live action sequences (see <a href=\"http:\/\/simple.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SpongeBob_SquarePants_2\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.featurefilmauditions.com\/2013\/08\/casting-calls-underway-for-live-action.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). Mitchell&#8217;s previous directing projects include 2010&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0892791\/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Shrek Forever After<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell worked with a great list of actors who voiced characters on that project, including Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, and John Cleese.
