Richman is often considered the progenitor of the punk rock scene and has been referred to as the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Godfather of Punk Rock.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Many bands have covered his Pablo Picasso song including David Bowie and The Velvet Underground. Frank Black, Weezer, The Violent Femmes, and They Might Be Giants are among a long list of bands that have cited Richman as a favorite influence.
