{"id":3172,"date":"2012-06-14T17:49:51","date_gmt":"2012-06-14T21:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/?p=3172"},"modified":"2012-06-14T18:04:24","modified_gmt":"2012-06-14T22:04:24","slug":"a-quirky-photo-tour-of-charleston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/2012\/06\/14\/a-quirky-photo-tour-of-charleston\/","title":{"rendered":"A quirky photo tour of Charleston"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"e26b170012445c56d240655bdd03f7bf\" data-index=\"1\" style=\"float: left; margin: 10px 10px 10px 0;\">\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\r\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-5595881567027133\";\r\n\/* Medium Rectangle *\/\r\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"8584504377\";\r\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\r\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\r\n\/\/-->\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\r\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>I went with my friend Adrienne to Charleston last Saturday for two good meals and two shows at Spoleto.<\/p>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/2012\/06\/10\/a-review-of-husk-a-fabulous-charleston-restaurant-with-farm-to-table-menu\/\" target=\"_blank\">already reviewed our great dinner at Husk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billdawers.com\/2012\/06\/12\/traces-by-les-7-doigts-de-la-main-7-fingers-a-review-from-spoleto\/\" target=\"_blank\"> already reviewed the fabulous show <em>Traces<\/em> by Les 7 Doigts de la Main<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>We also had a really good lunch at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patatspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Patat Spot Friet &#038; Falafel<\/a>, which obviously specializes in falafels (but I tried the vegetarian frank).<\/p>\n<p>And we also saw <em>A Crack in Everything<\/em> by the dance company zoe|juniper, which was something of a disappointment. The choreography did an extraordinary job of heightening tension, but did nothing to resolve that tension. At several moments, including when two dancers stripped entirely, I thought some sense of the performers&#8217; and the piece&#8217;s humanity would come to the fore &#8212; but the opposite always happened. Sometimes surprises are nice, but not so much this time.<\/p>\n<p>Before and after the shows, Adrienne and I wandered around.
