The Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is Saturday.

The Forsyth Farmers’ Market will be closed.

And here’s a funny thing. Last night, some of the lettered signage/flags for the course were in a big clump together close to the center of Forsyth Park.

I’ve got some of the key information in this post, which I will update with news regarding traffic and the like as developments warrant.

The headline band will be Adelitas Way — that’s two years in a row that I haven’t even heard of the headliner. The New Familiars will be supporting.

There’s definitely not as much excitement around the event as there was last year, so it will be interesting to see the turnout in Forsyth. Unlike last year, many participants will be encouraged to park downtown, which should help boost business above last year.

So I sure don’t feel bad for never having heard of them, despite the band’s 130,000+ likes on Facebook. I had never heard of last year’s headliner Carolina Liar either — and haven’t heard anything about them since that set in Forsyth Park in November 2011.

Last year, Savannah-based The Train Wrecks performed both before and after the headliner — and got the crowd a lot more engaged. Let’s hope the event organizers make a similar move this year.
