In reply to m87219rg. The funding and ideology of the IOJ aside, I think they have a really compelling case. The federal court in DC obviously agrees. The question here isn't about federal meddling as much as it is about local government meddling, in my opinion.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas will have to recuse himself from the case. Justice Thomas was involved with the founder of the Institute for Justice in fashioning legislation involving quotas in the Civil Rights Act.

The Institute for “Justice” it turns out is a front for the right wing Koch Brothers whose objective is to brandish a lazze faire type of capitalism with no regulation under the guise of Freedom of Speech cases. Savannah is fully capable of modifying its ordinances which is long overdue. We don’t need any federal intervention. We need to develop our own policies, free of Federal meddling.

The City of Savannah has now imposed yet another restriction on tour guides not mentioned here and that is the elimination of the designation “Various Tours” on the new badges. You must declare an affiliation with one of the major tour companies or show a tax certificate. I wonder who thought that one up?
