When I was researching the Today in GA History segment on the Stones I came across all kinds of info. that I didn’t have room for in the story. The info. I found stated that the Stones flew into Atlanta and that they drove to Savannah. On the afternoon of the 4th they drove to Statesboro and returned to Savannah that evening after the concert, so it seems that stayed over the night of Tuesday the 4th. The next morning, Charlie Watts took a cab out to Fort Pulaski for some sightseeing before they all left for their Clearwater concert. And supposedly, it was out by that Clearwater pool that Mick finished up writing “Satisfaction” before it was recorded for the first time in Chicago on May 12th and then finished at RCA Studios in Los Angeles. If it was like most Stones songs, he and Keith had been working on it awhile before they arrived here. Great article!!
