You can pretty much blame her business manager and accountant for the fact that this whole thing got as far out of control as it has. When I worked there, I saw a number of things that disturbed the sensibilities from my view of 30 years of restaurant management/HR experience. There was just way too much ‘cocky’ attitude exhibited by the whole family regarding their ‘success’ and how they treated their staff and what was allowed to transpire in the company. I really like Paula, and always will. She just trusted some of the wrong people, and didn’t seek out people with a broader experience and view who could help her grow in a reasoned and sensible way. Too bad; because she and her family has done a lot of good for this city. I’ll always remember that. And the Trifle recipe I use every Christmas for our guests…
