I’ll post something more final much later tonight, but with 23.8% of precincts reporting in Georgia, Gingrich has 47.5%, Santorum 24.1%, Romney 22.4%, and Paul 5.1%
The major news sources have already called it a win for Gingrich, but as I noted in a previous post, Gingrich is really hoping to get more than 50% in most of the Congressional districts, and a best case scenario for him would be if one or even both of the other top candidates fell below 20%, which would make them ineligible for any of the 34 statewide delegates (the other 42 will be doled out by district).
So this looks like bad news so far for Romney, but there are so far NO votes from Cobb, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Chatham, or Bibb counties. So look for Romney’s numbers to go up as the night wears on.
More later.
