Savannah Music Festival adds Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt; Pink Martini; The Head and The Heart and Justin Townes Earle; and Gershwin cabaret to 2012 lineup

It was a gorgeous night at Tubby’s in Thunderbolt as the Savannah Music Festival announced four more acts for this spring’s lineup. The Train Wrecks performed as beautifully as always on the outdoor stage along River Drive.

Tickets for these gigs go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27th here.

I can’t even begin to say how thrilled I am at the prospect of seeing Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt in a show together. There are lots of YouTube clips I could post here, but I’m going to just post one from Lovett, doing the title track from a 1996 album that had a special resonance with me for a variety of reasons:

John Hiatt is a master singer-songwriter. Here he is with Lovett:

A great track from the eclectic oeuvre of Pink Martini:

And Pink Martini with “Hey Eugene”:

The Head and the Heart:

A wonderful tune from Justin Townes Earle:

At the moment I don’t know much about the Gershwin cabaret, which will be performed multiple times at the Morris Center at Trustees Garden, but that’s obviously a promising show.

More to come.
