A quick walk through the wonderful, vastly expanded SCAD Museum of Art

SCAD has always had some good exhibition spaces and the college’s Museum of Art in Kiah Hall on MLK has had some outstanding exhibits through the years.

But now the Museum of Art has dramatically expanded — an additional 65,000 square feet has been created from the ruins of slave built Central of Railroad sheds from the 1850s. The Savannah Morning News has a nice piece about the opening here.

I’ll be writing in my City Talk column at some point soon about the building and how it has transformed Turner Street, but here I’m just going to post photos with some minimal comments. All of these were taken yesterday at the press event/conference that was attended by 50 or so people, I’d guess.
