Deja vu all over again: online voting now open for new Georgia license plate

I can’t believe I’m writing — again — about the Georgia license plate design contest. But in for a penny, in for a pound. Or whatever that phrase is.

We’re voting on this again because of controversy spawned by “In God We Trust.” In the original round of eight plates, three of them were depicted with “In God We Trust” at the bottom where the county name would normally be. The Ga. Department of Revenue did not clearly point out that that phrase would be available on a special sticker for a dollar, and thus could be put on any of the plates.

Grassroots Christian groups voted (and apparently voted again and again) and the three finalists were the ones that were originally pictured with the “In God We Trust” sticker. Governor Deal was supposed to choose the winner from that group, but he wisely — or not — threw the process back to the Department of Revenue.

Your choices are below. Go here to vote.
